Several local institutions have reported that their members have received fraudulent text messages purportedly from their institution. This is a method called spoofing. Users are receiving text messages that ask them to verify a debit card transaction. Then, they are receiving a phone call that appears to be from the financial institution.

  • Crane Credit Union does not verify transactions by text message.
  • We will never contact you asking for your PIN number or your online banking credentials.
  • If you receive a call from Crane and unsure if you are actually speaking to us, please hang up and call us directly at (800) 692-3274.

In addition, never release your personal information such as your account number, Social Security number, mother’s maiden name, or passwords in response to unexpected phone calls or any other suspicious communication. If you receive an inquiry from someone who says they represent a company or government agency, hang up and call that organization directly. It is important to note that you would likely receive a written statement in the mail before receiving a phone call from a legitimate source. Always use caution if you are being pressured for information.
