Malicious Pop-up Messages - February 28, 2014
We have received reports from some members of a pop-up offering a free credit report when visiting cranecu.org and Online Banking. These pop-ups ARE NOT originating from Crane Federal Credit Union, but rather are likely caused by malware that is installed on the PC used to access Credit Union websites. This Please take the appropriate steps to identify and remove any malware that be installed on your PC.
If you encounter this type of pop-up, do not click on any links from within the pop-up window. In addition, do not enter any information that the pop-up requests. If you encountered this type of pop-up, and provided any information, please contact us 1.800.692.3274 for assistance.
Fraudulent Automated Phone Calls - January 16, 2014
We have received reports that some members are receiving fraudulent automated phone calls purporting to be the "National Credit Union Administration". The automated message will state that your debit card will need to be activated for out-of-state purchases. The member is then instructed to press '1' if they have their debit card with them, if not, just hangup. At this point the member will be prompted to enter their debit card information. In addition, another variation of this call states that the recipient's debit card will be deactivated unless card information is provided. At this time, it appears as though 812.699.xxxx, 812.583.xxxx, and 812.648.xxxx numbers are being affected. Please be advised that these calls are fraudulent. If you receive one of these calls, simply hangup, do not provide any personal or account information. If you have already provided this information, please contact us as soon as possible.
