Crane Credit Union and Franklin Middle School are hosting a Reality Store® event for the 8th grade students coming up on Friday May 17th. If you volunteered in the past, Thank you so much for volunteering! If you could volunteer this year it would be greatly appreciated. The success of a Reality Store® depends on volunteers, so if you have others that would like to fill the other roles that are needed that would be greatly appreciated. There are 400+ students attending the Reality Store and my goal is to get approximately 50 volunteers for the day.
For those unfamiliar with the program, the Reality Store® is a simulation that helps students appreciate the ‘realities’ of life and achieve a better understanding of personal finance. Prior to the activity, each student is assigned an educational level based on their GPA and the average salary of a 28-year-old working with that degree. The students then visit sixteen stations (staffed by you, our volunteers) to determine how to spend their salaries and make ends meet, budgeting for transportation, housing, clothes, food, and so on. This wonderful volunteer opportunity enlightens students and encourages them to consider extending their educational career.
