The Board of Directors of Crane Credit Union is seeking a maximum of three individuals for the position of Board Associate.
Appointment and Term:
Recruited by the Board and appointed by the Board Chair. Serves for one year and may be re-appointed for subsequent terms. The Board Chair may terminate the appointment at any time. There is a maximum of three positions for Board Associates.
Summary of Responsibility:
A Board Associate desires to serve the Credit Union and potentially be considered as a candidate as a future Director and/or Supervisory Committee Member. A Board Associate is a volunteer who, while not a member of the Board of Directors, may serve as a voting member of a Board Committee. A Board Associate must become familiar with the positions and duties of Director and Supervisory Committee Member (9050.00 and 9050.01). A Board Associate must sign and adhere to the Code of Conduct Policy 9060. A Board Associate has the opportunity to receive training to gain insight to become a successful volunteer.
Basic Duties of a Board Associate:
Attend and be an active participant at assigned committee meetings
Attend a minimum one per quarter Regular Monthly Board Meetings
Attend and be an active participant at Board Planning Sessions
Read, review, sign a copy and adhere to the Code of Ethics
At a minimum complete required Director training.
As directed and approved by the mentor, the Board Associate will, organize and chair a focus group, to provide information and to advise the Board of ways the Credit Union can be more competitive and better serve our members.
The purpose of a Mentoring Program is to aide each Board Associate in their self-development. The Mentoring Program shall extend during the individual’s entire service as a Board Associate.
A Board Associate will be assigned a mentor. The duties of the Mentor include:
- Meeting with the Board Associate at least once per quarter to answer questions and monitor their progress (e.g., Trainer Plan).
- Maintain one-to-one relationship with the Board Associate to promote relevant discussion and understanding.
- Report on mentoring activities at the annual Education Committee meeting.
- The Mentor is responsible for completing an annual mentoring report if requested by any Director.
Process at end of term:
Each Board Associate may be considered for the Board of Directors or the Supervisory Committee, by the Nominating Committee during the annual nomination period. The Board Chairman will consult with the Board and make a decision on re-appointing the Associate for continuing service to the Credit Union.
